Lorreta Lux

Part 1]
* She chose to use really fair skinned children in her work and then she edited them slightly
to make them out of proportion. They are kind of eerie looking.
* A lot of the backgrounds are of landscapes and several she painted herself giving them a
one of a kind feeling.
* The intent of her work was to produce a modern version of Renaissance type paintings. She photographed children in well lit studios and then dropped the image into a different background. This style is very reminiscent of the types of painting from the Renaissance.
* Her photos are similar to painter in the 14th, 15th, 18th, and 19th centuries because they
are very posed and they have artificial backgrounds of landscapes. Ex: The "Mona Lisa" by
DaVinci.
Part 2]
*My choice of subject was my friend Karla. I posses her like she was dancing because that was something she used to do when she was younger.
*I choose the stage as my background because I wanted the photo to look like she was really performing onstage.
* My idea started with the stage because I know that it somewhere that Karla isn't necessarily comfortable being. I wanted to show her doing something and being somewhere that was going to challenge and push her, in this case dancing on a stage.
*A similarity of mine and Lux's work is the technique but other that they are different. My photo looks less photoshoped than hers (it's less apparent that the photo was manipulated and then dropped into the background).
